Nutritional Analysis
Food is a basic necessity of the body. It supplies the body with nutrients that enable it to function properly. However, eating any type of food does not mean that we get the right amount of nutrients that the body needs everyday. When this happens, our health suffers and our body is placed at risk of developing health conditions and diseases. This is why nutrition analysis is important.
Nutritional analysis is an assessment done to check if the body is receiving the right amount of essential nutrients based on their health requirements. A lack of nutrients leads to nutritional imbalance resulting in malnutrition of the body.
What Are The Causes Of Malnutrition?
There are two types of malnutrition – undernutrition (lack of nutrients) and overnutrition (receiving more nutrients than you need). Both can increase an individual’s chances of having health problems.
Malnutrition is not only due to lack of sufficient nutrients in the body because of poor food choices. It can also be influenced by other factors, such as:
- Challenges in obtaining food
- Having a low income
- Underlying health conditions
- Mental health issues
What Are The Common Symptoms Of Malnutrition?
- Being overweight or underweight
- Depression
- Delay in recovering from sickness
- Fatigue
- Feeling cold constantly
- Hair Loss
- Irritability
- Longer time for wounds to heal
- Loss of appetite
- Thin and dry skin
What Are The Objectives Of A Nutritional Analysis?
Nutritional analysis has the following objectives:
- Address nutrition needs
- Educate about malnutrition
- Form healthy eating habits
- Make individuals understand crucial information concerning their health

FAQ
What Happens During Your Initial Consultation For A Nutritional Analysis?
Prior to your initial consultation, you will be asked to keep a 3-day food diary . In the diary, you need to record the following:
- The time that you eat
- The food and drink you consumed each time
- The method how the food was cooked (e.g. homemade, ready-made)
It is imperative that all the details logged in the tracker are accurate , so your doctor and health care team can best assess your nutritional needs, present recommendations and propose adjustments to your diet.
On the day of your initial assessment, we will go over your 3-day food tracker. Be prepared to answer questions, such as:
- What are your goals?
- What do you want to change or improve?
- What does your current diet look like?
- What are the foods that you like and dislike?
- How would you describe a healthy diet?
- How often do you eat in a day?
- How much do you eat in one sitting?
- Who does most of your meal preparations?
- Do you engage in any physical activities or do regular exercise?
- Do you have any difficulties when it comes to buying, preparing and eating food?
We will also discuss your medical history and medications. All this information will give us a more complete understanding of your eating habits and lifestyle patterns.
Coming Up With A Nutritional Plan
All the information from the consultation is gathered and analysed by a professional nutritionist. From this, we will curate a personalised plan to help you gain the nutrients that your body is lacking and address other problems that affect your whole-body health. The nutrition plan includes actionable steps that you will practice over the succeeding weeks, such as:
- Additional Lab Tests
- Boosting Consumption Of Specific Foods
- Discussion Of Meal Plan
- Focusing On Particular Nutrients
- Timing Of Meals
- Tracking Of Symptoms
We will walk you through your nutrition plan and entertain any questions or concerns that you may have regarding it. Here are some questions that you may ask:
- Are there supplements that I should be taking?
- Can I still enjoy the food that I like while following a nutrition plan?
- How much portion of food should I consume each meal?
- How can I drink more water?
- How can I control food cravings?
- How do I plan my meals when attending social events?
- How should I manage eating out while achieving my goals?
- What can I do to be healthy when I do not know how to cook?
- What is a good method to use when picking the right foods at the grocery store?
- What if I am unable to follow the nutrition plan accordingly?
What To Expect From A Follow-Up Consultation?
A follow-up consultation with your nutritionist and health coach happens after 4-6 weeks of following your nutrition plan. During this time, your progress will be assessed and your whole health reevaluated (e.g. body composition analysis). Your nutritionist and health coach will ask you about:
- Your entire experience while following the nutrition plan
