What are the 5 female health concerns?

While vaccination is the cornerstone of influenza prevention, it is just one of many layers of protection against the highly contagious virus:

Heart Disease

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death among women globally. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not just a man’s problem. Women are equally susceptible to heart diseases, and their symptoms can differ.

Some common signs of heart issues in women are chest tightness or pressure, neck, jaw, shoulder, upper back or upper belly (abdomen) discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea and extreme fatigue.

Diabetes

Diabetes affects millions of women worldwide and can have severe consequences if left unchecked. In Singapore, approximately one in ten (9.5%) Singaporeans aged 18 to 74 years had diabetes mellitus in 2019-2020.

Diabetes symptoms include excessive thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, and exhaustion. Lifestyle factors such as poor nutrition and a lack of exercise can raise the risk.

High Cholesterol

High cholesterol levels often contribute to heart disease and stroke, making it a significant concern for women. While genetics can play a role, diet and lifestyle choices also influence cholesterol levels.

Obesity

Our female health screenings offer body composition analysis, helping you understand your unique profile and providing tailored recommendations for weight management.

Stress

Our comprehensive female health screenings consider your mental health, offering guidance on stress management techniques and mental health support if needed

FAQ

Why is medical screening important?

Medical screening is important because it can help identify health conditions or diseases before they become serious or life-threatening, as most chronic diseases have very vague symptoms, such as diabetes (e.g. frequent thirst and peeing).

Medical screening can also help to identify risk factors for certain health conditions, allowing individuals to take preventive measures to reduce their risk. For example, a person with a family history of heart disease may be advised to adopt a healthy diet and exercise regimen to reduce their risk of developing the condition.

Overall, medical screening is an important tool for maintaining good health, preventing serious health conditions, and managing diseases.

The frequency of medical screenings can vary depending on several factors, including your age, gender, family history, and overall health status. The Health Promotion Board (HPB) recommends individuals aged 18 and above to screen once a year for obesity and once every two years for hypertension; individuals aged 40 and above to screen once every three years for diabetes and high cholesterol; individuals aged 50 and above to screen once a year for colorectal cancer.

This depends on several factors, including your age, gender, family history, personal medical history, lifestyle factors, individual risk factors for certain diseases, and your area of concern. Our friendly team will talk to you and recommend the most suitable package that addresses your needs.

It depends on the screening package you choose. Some packages can be all done in the clinic, some are not.

Our health screening is divided into two sessions: during the first session, you will get all the necessary tests done and during the second session you will meet up with our doctor and health coach.

The first session can take anywhere from 40-120 minutes depending on the package chosen. The second session will take about 60 minutes.

Not always – it depends on the health screening package you choose. Our team will assist accordingly.

While specifics depend on the screening package you choose; in general, you can expect a blood draw, physical exam, and lifestyle-related report. You will also expect some physical tests if you choose our lifestyle and 365 packages.

Medical screening is a traditional health screening that helps you understand your overall health better through blood tests. We will also take your weight, waist circumference, blood pressure and so on. A lifestyle screening looks beyond a traditional health screening as it also takes into consideration your diet, physical activity, mental health and sleep. Additionally, we also include an optional session with a health coach to help assist you on what to work on.
